£25.95An original composition from Lucy Pankhurst, Heed The Word is a complete mix of powerful energy and poignant emotions flowing from the score. A strong use of pulsating drums are balanced at times with sheer tranquility and rich chords, exuding concerns, hope and positivity. The work was created in response to a charitable CD fund-raising project, and the recording by the Prairie Brass Band, US was featured on the final CD – Into Africa.

The piece is chilling in its depiction of the tragic story, sensitively conveying the atmosphere and emotions as perceived before, during and after the event. Through its use of playing techniques, effects, sound combinations and even silences, In Pitch Black offers a powerfully reflective piece.
Lucy Pankhurst deservedly won the 2011 British Composers Award (BASCA) for In Pitch Black.
