This is effectively recreated by soloists around the band playing and responding. QUICKVIEWEriskay Love Lilt (with ensemble)
£30.00Eriskay Love Lilt is a traditional Gaelic melody from the Western Isles of Scotland, sensitively arranged here by Andrew Duncan as a cornet solo with brass band accompaniment. This arrangement was written in 2001 for Phillip McCann and was first played by him with the Hepworth Band at the 2002 Leek Music Festival in Derbyshire, England. It has also since been recorded by Eleanor Ferguson on Reflections of Freedom. Also available with piano accompaniment or as a solo with brass band.

Chernigov is an area, originally part of the USSR, now Ukraine, originally inhabited by Cossack tribes. This piece is a “Cossack Dance”, which starts slowly in a minor key, and then shifts to the tonic major for a lively dance. QUICKVIEWThe Terracotta Army of Mount Li

Inspired by this wonder of the world, the piece embraces the Chinese style of music which often uses the pentatonic scale. It’s a sequence which is something quite unusual to our ears in the western world and can be quickly demonstrated by playing only the black notes on the piano. Luckily for the players, this version has been put into an easier key, but still retains the distinctive sounds.
