It was originally commissioned in 2012 by Gregory Chaplain, principal cornet of the Carnoustie & District Youth Band at the time, and has proven to be a popular concert feature. The piece was composed to highlight the skill and virtuosity of Gregory’s playing whilst demonstrating his all round musicality with the moving lyrical elements which dominate the piece.
