Ascension
£35.00A major work written for the RNCM Brass Festival Competition 2005, and inspired by the nature of Ascension – creating a Musical depiction of the spiritual journey towards enlightenment, sanctuary and ultimate inner peace. As an initial muse for this work, the ‘Tibetan Singing Bowl’ is utilised to represent the path to Serenity, together with Baoding Balls (Chinese Health Balls) to mark the point of Final Ascension. A major work, fascinating and emotive.

Cantata

The piece was commissioned by (and dedicated to) The Foden’s Band, and selected as the set work at the 2014 Scottish Open Brass Band Championships, offering an exciting addition to the contesting repertoire. A challenging piece for the players, but one which reaps huge rewards through its rich scoring and imaginative development. A work of three movements, Cantata presents a new dynamic level of its composer’s musical mastery.

In Pitch Black
£35.00An extremely emotional and poignant work for brass band, in memory and tribute to those affected by the Pretoria Pit disaster in Lancashire on 21st December 1910. The piece is chilling in its depiction of the tragic story, sensitively conveying the atmosphere and emotions as perceived before, during and after the event. Through its use of playing techniques, effects, sound combinations and even silences, In Pitch Black offers a powerfully reflective piece.
Lucy Pankhurst deservedly won the 2011 British Composers Award (BASCA) for In Pitch Black.

Little Christmas
£40.00Original composition commissioned as the set test piece for the 2006 European Brass Band Championships ‘B’ Section, held in Belfast. Elaine Agnew’s imagination and the fascinating story from which she took inspiration in crafting this composition brings bursts of life and a wide spectrum of colourful sounds through here creativity.

Midnight
£30.00Written for and premiered by the Leyland Band with euphonium soloist Philippe Schwartz in 2010, Midnight is a haunting euphonium solo which features the engaging combination of lyrical melodies and strident energy. Opening with peaceful serenity, transitioning to an energetic and exciting passage, and then returning to an atmospheric spotlight on the soloist, to eventually close with the original tranquility restored. Midnight is now featured on the Leyland Band CD – Age of Chivalry.

Dedicated to tuba player Edd Leech, Oubliette raises the bar for tuba repertoire. Includes solo parts for Eb Bass (TC) and Tuba (BC). Solo with piano accompaniment available separately.
